Santiago League Round 10: CPN edges Plaza by one point- April 14, 2021

Plaza - CPN 110-111 The most exciting game of round 10 in the Santiago League ended with only one-point defeat of 5th ranked Plaza (1-6) to third ranked CPN (5-2) 111-110 on Tuesday evening. CPN outrebounded Plaza 46-35 including 33 on the defensive glass. Victor Liz (193-86, agency: BMS Sport Agency) fired a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds for the winners. American Ramon Galloway (190-91, college: La Salle, agency: BMS Sport Agency) chipped in 27 points and 6 assists (made all of his seven free throws). Guard Oliver Garcia (188-96) produced 30 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and Kylon Tyree added 27 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Plaza's coach Leo Santos rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. CPN have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Cupes. Plaza lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with six games lost. CPN's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Santiago Cupes. Cupes were defeated by GUG in a tough game 79-83. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cupes. They outrebounded Cupes 43-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Juan Guerrero (205-93, agency: BMS Sport Agency) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 7 rebounds. American Jordan Williams (198-92, college: N.Texas) contributed with 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Center Luis Santos (203-94, college: St.Louis) replied with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks and forward Juan Miguel Suero (196-93) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Cupes. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defending champion maintains fourth position with 4-3 record. Cupes at the other side keep the second place with two games lost.
